How to Change Management Implementation Time

The management process is highly dependent on the need to set goals and then set a timeline for implementing those goals. As the book "6 Habits of Highly Successful Managers" explains, "Goals are a means for moving the company closer to its vision." Once you have your plan in place, the next step is to simply set it in motion, but circumstances may arise that make it necessary to change your implementation timeline.

Instructions

    • 1

Review your current implementation timeline to identify any issues with your schedule. For instance, if your management timeline includes details of implementing an employee training initiative at the company, you may notice a conflict between the training program start date and a non-working holiday.

    • 2

Update the start and end date of each entry on the plan that needs modification. Going back to the training example, you might move the start date of a two-week program from January 1 to January 15 instead to avoid conflicts with holidays.

    • 3

Reflow the rest of the the timeline after the updated entries to account for the changes in your previous timeline. For example, if you had an immediate follow-up meeting planned for January 16 after completion of the training program, you must now move that to January 31 or February 1.

    • 4

Seek approval for the newly-changed timeline by another manager, supervisor or the owner of the company before publishing the new schedule for employees and putting it into motion. Having a second review of the new implementation plan may help you avoid future changes due to oversights and conflicts.
