Facebook has again made it possible for users to tag a friend in a comment on someone else's Facebook profile page, as of 2011.This is a very useful tool, and it can be a fun and entertaining aspect of social media. You can be sure that a friend sees information that you want them to be aware of, and you can quickly acknowledge a friend with a tag on a comment.

      Log in to Facebook.

      Visit the page of a Facebook friend.

      Compose a desired comment, then press the "@" symbol on the keyboard by clicking the "Shift" key and the number "2."

      Press the first letter of the friend's name who is being tagged, and a drop-down menu appears, listing your entire friend list. Select the correct name from the list and hit "Enter."

Tips & Warnings

  • This Facebook tool is best used sparingly. Too much comment tagging could annoy the person being tagged and others, too.

  • The person who is tagged will receive notification through their Facebook page that they have been tagged. However, unlike the photo tagging on Facebook, the comment tagging does not go through the public feed at this time. It does show up on the comment, though.
