How to Reinstall Internet Explorer 6 After Internet Explorer 7

Windows includes an automatic update feature that installs Microsoft's latest updates when they go live. This function can sometimes backfire for novice PC users who become accustomed to specific programs, such as their current version of Internet Explorer. For instance, without user intervention, Internet Explorer 6 automatically updates to Internet Explorer 7. The only way to reinstall Internet Explorer 6 is to uninstall Internet Explorer 7 completely. Afterward, the PC will reinstall Internet Explorer 6 automatically.

Instructions

1. Open the "Start" menu.

2. Click "Run." A dialog box will appear.

3. Open the "Add/Remove Programs" feature by typing "appwiz.cpl" and pressing the "Enter" key. The "Add/Remove Programs" dialog window will open.

4. Double-click "Windows Internet Explorer 7" on the "Uninstall or Change a Program" section. Follow the uninstaller prompts to finish removing Internet Explorer 7. Internet Explorer 6 will automatically restore on your PC.
