How Do I Find a Keylogger File?
Keylogger programs monitor your activities on your computer, noting websites, keystrokes and other information you use. Some keyloggers are used by employers to track employee computer usage, but other keyloggers are installed maliciously in an attempt to gain access to sensitive information like user names, passwords and account numbers. Most antivirus and antispyware programs have keylogger definitions to search for during scans.

1
Open the antivirus program you have installed on your computer. If you do not currently have antivirus or antispyware programs installed, you can download free software from avg.com, spybot.com or lavasoft.com, for example, to use for a keylogger scan.
-
2
Update the antivirus program with the "Update" button or tab. Antivirus programs are not effective unless they have the most recent virus definition installed, in order to properly identify all current threats to the computer.

Perform a complete scan of your computer. The "Scan" button is located on the main control panel page of the antivirus software, or you can access it through the program's system tray icon. A full scan searches all of your drives, files and folders, so it can take a significant amount of time. Remove or quarantine any items the antivirus program finds. A keylogger can be considered a Trojan or spyware, so you may wish to run a virus and a spyware scan to cover all of your bases.
