How to Decorate With Indian Corn
The colors of autumn foliage brings brilliant golds, oranges and reds. The summer flowers fade and sunflowers and mums replace them. Gourds and pumpkins are plentiful at produce stands. And a favorite of the autumn harvest is Indian corn. The kernels of the corn are deep shades of reds, yellows, purples and stripes of all of these colors together. Bundles of Indian corn cobs make appealing door decorations. But you can also use Indian corn to make a seasonal table decoration.

1
Purchase a basket that is somewhat flat, open on the ends and has a handle. It should be about 20-inches long. A dark-colored grapevine basket provides the best contrast for the colorful corn and autumn leaves.
-
2
Use a hot glue gun to line the inside of the basket with moss. This will add a rich green background to your arrangement.

3
Arrange several twigs with leaves on top of the moss. The leaves should spill over the edges of the basket. No need to glue twigs in place.
-
4
Peel down the husks of the Indian corn to expose the colorful ears, being careful not to pull off the husks. Arrange half of the ears so that their tips point to the the left. Arrange the rest of the ears so their tips point to the right. The husks of both right- and left-pointing corn should overlap in the middle of the basket.

5
Place several gourds in the center of the arrangement on top of the corn. Hot glue them in place if the basket is going to be moved. The gourds will cover some of the husks and add another element of interest to the arrangement.
-
6
Wire a burlap florist bow to the base of the handle on the basket.
