Finding the just the right belt buckle for the occasion is not always easy, though. If you do find one, it may be expensive. You can make your own belt buckle with common materials. Things You'll Need
- Belt buckle blank
- Decorative paper
- Rhinestones
- Metal studs
- Tweezers
- Glitter
- Glue
- Paintbrush
- Decoupage glue

Buy a belt buckle blank. These metal belt buckle blanks can be bought online or in craft or other retail stores. The blanks are inexpensive and make designing your own belt buckle simple.

Glue pieces of decorative paper to the face of the belt buckle blank. Ensure that you use glue that is made to stick to metal. You can use papers such as wallpaper, gift wrapping paper or magazine cutouts. Find pictures and designs that look good together and match within a specific theme. Allow the glue to dry completely.

Add rhinestones or metal studs to the blank buckle. Use a pair of tweezers to lift the rhinestones or studs, dip the backsides of them in glue and carefully place them in a design on the blank buckle. You can add glitter to the design. Allow the glue to dry completely before moving on.

Use a paintbrush and decoupage glues to cover the entire design that you have made. Cover the pictures as well as the rhinestones or studs. This process will make the belt buckle more durable. Allow the decoupage to dry for at least a day before wearing the belt buckle.

Tips & Warnings
If you have a plain belt you can use leather paint to spruce it up and to make it match your do-it-yourself belt buckle.
Do not wear the belt buckle before all the glue dries. The glue may get on your clothes and ruin them.
