How to Decorate a Teen's Room in Panda Bears

Panda bears tend to be a favorite because of their cuddly looks and exotic nature. Decorating a teen's bedroom with a panda theme could range from a realistic look to a cuddly, cartoonlike depiction of the animal. Using a panda theme also means you'll be decorating with a black-and-white color scheme, which is popular among teens. Sprinkle in a bit of color to keep the room interesting.

Instructions

1. Paint the walls a light beige or green for a calming, natural look if you want to mimic the panda's habitat. A mural featuring bamboo plants, blue skies and playful pandas is another option. Leave the walls white and paint silhouettes of pandas in black if you want something more abstract.

2. Choose furniture that fits into the room. Black or white furniture will keep it simple, staying within the black and white colors of the panda. The furniture will also work with numerous other themes once your teen grows tired of the panda theme. Alternatively, use natural wood or bamboo furniture if you want to recreate the habitat of the panda.

3. Use a reversible black and white comforter if you want to keep the bedding simple. Alternatively, use panda-themed bedding with images of pandas if you want something different.

4. Hang pictures, posters or a mural of pandas on at least one wall. Use black or wood-tone frames and drape silk greenery around the frames.

5. Accessorize the room with panda or black-and-white details. For example, replace nightstand and dresser drawer knobs with panda knobs. Put a stuffed panda on the bed, on a shelf or in a silk tree. Toss fuzzy black and white pillows on the bed or a chair. Add a panda-themed rug on the floor.

Tips & Warnings

• Brighten up the black-and-white room with hints of earth colors, such as light blue, beige or green. Alternatively, use small doses of a bold color, such as red, to play off the black and white.
