How to Check What Sites Link to a Domain Name

Checking to see the sites that are linking to a particular domain name is typically referred to as checking the back links. Unfortunately, one ultimate tool to do this does not exist. In fact, as you use the tools, you will notice that you can get different results. This is because the varying services can see different back links. For this reason, you should always use more than one back link checking service, to get the most accurate view of who is linking to a domain name. All of the tools work in the same basic way.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your web browser and visit the site of a back link checking tool. Some sites you can use include SEO Pro, iWeb Tool, Backlink Watch and Open Site Explorer.

    • 2

Type the domain name in the search field and click on the "Search" button, which may be labeled Get Data or Check Links -- or something similar.

    • 3

Wait for the back link checker to scan the web for back links to the domain name. If the site has a lot of other sites linking to it, it can take a few minutes for the report to populate.

    • 4

Browse the back link report when it appears on your screen, to see what sites are linking to the domain name. If there are multiple links from the same site, you will likely see each link as a separate back link on the report.
