How Do I Zip a File for Mac?
Zipping a pile of clothes into a suitcase compresses them so they take up less space. Similarly, zipping files on your Mac to create a .zip archive compresses them and reduces their size. While a number of third-party applications for zipping files and using other methods of compression are available, you don't need them to zip a file, because the Mac's OS X operating system has this capacity built in. The Finder of your Mac includes three methods for zipping files.
