How to Change the Default Email Program in Internet Explorer 6

When you click an email link in Internet Explorer 6, the default email client you have configured in the browser launches automatically. If the wrong program, or none at all, opens when you click an email link, the default email client is improperly configured. However, you can easily fix the problem, since Internet Explorer 6 allows you to set or redefine the default email client within its "Internet Options" menu.

Instructions

1. Open Internet Explorer 6.

2. Click the top "Tools" menu option, and select "Internet Options."

3. Click the "Programs" tab of the "Internet Options" window.

4. Select the program you want to set as the default email client from the mail list, and click "OK."
