How to Set Up an OpenDNS

OpenDNS provides many utilities for home and business Internet use, such as Web filtering and anti-phishing software, in addition to providing two DNS numbers for your Internet connection for public use. In order to use this software, you must change your computer's DNS numbers to match the numbers from OpenDNS. For Windows 7 users, you can change these numbers from the Control Panel.

      Click the Windows orb to access the "Start" menu.

      Click "Control Panel."

      Click "View Network Status and Tasks" underneath "Network and Internet."

      Click "Change Adapter Settings."

      Double-click the network adapter that you are currently using for the Internet. Click "Continue" to any prompts that appear.

      Click "Internet Protocol 4." Click "Properties."

      Click the box next to "Use The Following DNS Server Addresses."

    • 8

      Enter "208.67.222.222" and "208.67.220.220" in the fields provided. Click "OK" to save all changes and complete the setup of OpenDNS.
