Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a makeup set and familiarize yourself with the colors. Make sure to have the specific colors you want for your lion face painting. Typically shades of brown, yellow, orange, and black are used.

    • 2

Wipe off the face you are about to paint to ensure you have a clean palette. Oil and makeup can alter the color and look of your paint. You want to work with clean, dry skin. Then cover your face in a slightly yellow-toned foundation.

    • 3

Use a large brush to contour your face with bronzer. Define the sides of the nose, the cheekbones, and all around the face. Next, take some very light concealer and apply beneath and above the eyes. Lions tend to have very light colors around their eyes, so try to mimic the way they look.

    • 4

Paint the lion's nose with black eyeliner. The nose should resemble that of a cat's nose. It should look similar to that of an upside down triangle. Then, paint a line from the tip of the nose all the way down to your lip. Add whiskers or dots to indicate whiskers above the mouth.

    • 5

Use your eyeliner to define your eyes. On the inside of each eye, draw a line down, creating the look of a cat's eyes. You can even invest in some amber or yellow colored contact lenses for an added effect. Dust a light colored powder over your face to set the makeup.

Buy a lion's mane or lion ears at a costume shop to wear with your new look. There are many different kinds in the market, so shop around to find your perfect lion costume.
