How to Remove the Battery in a Sears 12V Weed Whacker
The 12 volt Sears Craftsman weed whacker contains an internal battery that does not snap in and out as you would expect from a cordless drill or other battery operated tool. As with any battery operated tool, these 12 volt batteries have a finite lifespan and eventually will need to be replaced to maintain the usefulness of the weed whacker. You can replace the internal battery yourself in less than an hour. Does this Spark an idea?

Locate the battery housing on back of the Sears weed whacker unit. The battery is housed just behind the handle, in the large compartment at the back.

-
3
Carefully separate the two halves of the plastic compartment and expose the battery.

Remove the wiring harness from the battery by gently pulling the harness straight down, off the battery terminals. If you're having trouble removing the harness with your fingers, use a pair of needle nose pliers to get a better grip.

Lift the battery out of the plastic compartment.
-
6
Insert the replacement battery into the compartment and re-attach the wiring harness.
-
7
