Southern Star Satellite Installation
Self-installation of the Southern Star satellite dish is a possibility even if you have no existing satellite dish expertise or any electronics installation experience. Ensure that the mounting area for your Southern Star satellite dish has open air around it--air that is free from obstruction from trees, buildings and other potential obstacles that may block Southern Star satellite dish reception.

Analyze the bottom of the Southern Star satellite dish. This base has pre-established holes that accommodate the bolts that shipped alongside the Southern Star satellite dish. With a power drill in hand, insert the bolts into these holes once you have the dish base positioned flat against the mounting surface. This will fasten the dish in place.

Locate the coaxial cable that extends from the rear of the Southern Star satellite dish. Take this cable and lead it down into the interior of your office or home, and down to where your television resides. In close proximity to your television, you should have the included Southern Star/Dishnet satellite receiver standing by. Connect the coaxial cable into the "ANT IN" port on the rear of this receiver.

Turn on the TV and the receiver, and allow both a few seconds to boot up. A Dishnet menu will appear on the TV. Pick the Signal Meter Screen option, leave a friend with the television inside and return to the Southern Star satellite dish outside.

Make incremental elevation adjustments to the Southern Star satellite dish. These elevation adjustments are made by tilting the dish either up or down slightly. After each small adjustment, wait several seconds for your friend to provide a signal meter screen update. The signal meter will take into account each adjustment to the dish that is made, recalibrate and indicate how close you are to "hitting" the correct coordinates with your Southern Star satellite dish. Continue to make elevation adjustments as needed.

Make incremental azimuth adjustments to the Southern Star satellite dish. These azimuth adjustments are made by tilting the dish either left or right slightly. Wait several seconds again after each azimuth adjustment until an update is provided. Continue to make azimuth and elevation adjustments to the Southern Star satellite dish until the meter screen reports that all coordinates have been hit.
