How to Light Water Proof Matches
Waterproof matches, also known as storm proof matches, are matches that have a wax or other coating that protects the match head from moisture. Additionally, the term waterproof is used to describe matches designed with a long sparkler-like head containing chemicals that ignite and continue to burn even if exposed to water. As waterproof matches work the same way as traditional wood stick non-waterproof matches, no special method for lighting the match is required. As with regular matches, you simply ignite the match head using a striking plate. Does this Spark an idea?

Tips & Warnings
If you're using sparkler-like waterproof matches and a match falls in water after you've lit it, don't worry. Quickly pull the match from the water -- it should continue to burn until the flame reaches the top of the wood matchstick.
Never carry your matches and matchbox striking plate, or spare striking plates, in the same bag unless the matches are inside the matchbox. The matches will ignite if rubbed accidentally against the plate.
