Write a personal message on a postcard and send it to an inmate.

Sending an inmate mail helps them in their stay at the penitentiary. Mail gives inmates support, guidance and something to look forward to. Mail to inmates has been changed to postcards, to limit contraband slipping through, so your messages must now fit on a postcard size. You can write a personal message to an inmate and mail the postcard easily.

Instructions

    • 1

Use postcards that are no smaller than 4 by 6 inches and no larger than 6 by 11 inches. Write the message in the space permitted on the postcard.

    • 2

Deliver the postcard personally, by dropping it off at the jail drop box, delivering it through the US. Postal Service or a commercially licensed carrier, such as FedEx or UPS.

    • 3

Verify that the postcard is not modified in any way: This includes spraying perfume or cologne on the card -- applying glitter, stickers -- or other objects. Do not add extra layers to the postcard, paint or stains. These are all causes for the postcard to be rejected. You may also be prosecuted.

    • 4

Address the postcard with the inmate's name and booking number. Place a stamp on the postcard and mail the postcard to the jail address. You can get the booking number of the inmate by calling the jail. Be sure to include a return address, so the postcard can be returned, if necessary.
