How to Donate Your Body to Science at U of L in Kentucky

Family members will want to know ahead of time about your plans to donate your body to science.

Donating your body to an educational institution provides research opportunities for staff and students. Staff members use donated bodies for instructional purposes in many life science courses, nursing and medical school and for ongoing research projects. The program at the University of Louisville at Kentucky is called the Body Bequeathal program. Donors must be at least 18 years old and of sound mind.

Instructions

1. Call the University of Louisville at 502-852-5744. Arrange a meeting so that you and your family can learn about the Body Bequeathal program.

2. Review the required information provided by the staff at the University of Louisville. Meet with your spiritual leader if you have any concerns that your faith does not support body bequeaths.

3. Complete the required paperwork. Update your will to reflect your desire to donate your body to the University of Louisville.
