How Can I Edit Photos on Windows 7?

Windows 7 includes a number of multimedia utilities with any installation of the operating system. Some of these options include the ability to store, view or edit pictures. Microsoft Paint offers Windows 7 users a default tool for editing and manipulating pictures. Images that are opened in Paint can be quickly edited through cropping or rotating, or they can be severely altered with the eraser and brush tools. Paint users have a variety of image editing tools at their disposal and, with some creativity, they can modify an image to meet their needs.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click on a picture that you want to edit and choose "Open with," then "Paint."

    • 2

Click the "View" tab at the top of the Paint window and click "Zoom in" or "Zoom out" to adjust how your picture is displayed in the Paint workspace.

    • 3

Select the "Home" tab at the top of the screen to display the picture editing toolbar.

    • 4

Click the "Resize" or "Rotate" button to skew the image or adjust its orientation.

    • 5

Use the "Select" box to select a portion of your image. The selected portion can be cut by clicking "Cut" in the "Clipboard" section, or the image can be cropped to your selection by clicking "Crop" in the "Image" section.

    • 6

Select any of the tools, brushes or shapes in the "Tools," "Brushes" and "Shapes" sections to erase or draw on your picture. Note that different colors can be applied to your picture by selecting your desired color from the "Colors" section in the toolbar.
