How to Turn Off the Service Light on an FJ Cruiser

The Toyota FJ Cruiser's service reminder light comes on about once every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. The system measures the engine revolutions to determine the interval between your next scheduled service mark. Once you service the FJ Cruiser by changing the engine oil, reset the service light to turn it off. It will not appear until the vehicle requires service again.

Instructions

1. Crank the Toyota FJ Cruiser's engine. Push the trip odometer button in the instrument cluster until the odometer window shows the vehicle's total mileage. The procedure will not work if it shows "Trip A" or "Trip B."

2. Turn the ignition key to "Off," but leave it in the FJ Cruiser's ignition. Press and hold the trip odometer button.

3. Turn the key to "On" with your other hand without cranking the engine.

4. Let go of the trip odometer button after the odometer window shows "000000." This resets the service light.
