Typical webpage screenshot.

A website of interest often contains information valuable to the visitor. Its content may be required for future reference, whether obtained for personal or professional reasons. Depending on the information you wish to capture, copying its text to the Windows clipboard may not be sufficient. Thus, taking a screenshot proves more efficient, as it gathers a snapshot of both text-based and graphical data. You may then save the picture on your computer and view it as a standard file or share it as necessary.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "PrtScn" key located on the upper-right corner of your keyboard. This option takes a picture of the webpage in question and any other active window. For example, if you are viewing two webpages side-by-side, this option captures them as a single snapshot.

    • 2

Press and hold "Alt" followed by "PrtScn" to take a picture of the active webpage, while excluding any other window or program currently open. This method if preferred for capturing webpages displayed in full screen.

    • 3

Save the webpage screenshot to your computer. Using Microsoft Paint, for example, you can efficiently paste the webpage's picture and save it to view it at a later date. Go to the "Start" menu, type "MSPaint" from the Search dialog box and press "Enter" to launch it.

    • 4

Click the "Clipboard" icon from the upper-left corner of the program and select "Paste."

    • 5

Click the "Save" icon, portrayed as a blue floppy disk. Select a folder where you wish to save the webpage picture, assign a name from the "File Name" field and click "Save."

Tips & Warnings

  • The "PrtScn" method only stores one picture at a time. Save the current snapshot prior to gathering a new one.
