How to Drill a Hole in Pmc

Precious Metal Clay (PMC) is made from a mixture of clay and precious metal, usually silver. PMC is malleable at room temperature so you can shape it how you want. After drying, you fire it so the pieces of metal fuse together making a solid metal object. PMC is used mostly for jewelry making. If needed, you can drill a hole in fired PMC using a diamond bit on your drill.

Instructions

    • 1

Mark the place on your fired PMC where you would like to drill the hole. Make sure there is enough space on either side of the piece, about ¼ of an inch or more, so the PMC won't break.

    • 2

Place the diamond bit onto your drill and plug it in. Put on your goggles and a face mask.

    • 3

Hold the tip of the drill to the mark and start the drill. Push into the PMC slowly with the drill to make a hole. Push the drill all the way through to the other side of the PMC. Pull the drill out and turn it off.
