How to Decorate for a Baby Shower With Crepe Paper Streamers
If you want to decorate for a party, you'll likely think of two main party decorations, streamers and balloons. Streamers are a simple decorating option since they are available at grocery stores and party decorating stores alike. They are relatively inexpensive, add texture to the room and are available in a wide range of colors, which makes them the perfect decorating option for many households. Decorating for a baby shower isn't much different than decorating for other parties, although you'll likely be using either pink or blue streamers exclusively. You can use streamers as typical wall swag decorations, or form simple flowers for use in a bouquet or corsage.

Streamer Swags Across a Room
-
1
Select one or more colored streamers that match with your theme for the shower or the sex of the baby. For example, if the mother-to-be is expecting a boy, purchase two tones of blue streamers.
-
2
Unroll a couple of inches from both streamer colors and place the ends on top of each other. Tape the ends of the two streamers together, so that the top is one color and the bottom is another color.
-
-
3
Tape the ends of the streamers securely to the corner of the room.
-
4
Unroll both streamers some more and twist the two streamers together until you see both colors at the same time. Don't twist too much or the streamers may begin to curl too much.
-
5
Unroll and twist the streamers until you have enough length to drape about one- third of the intended decorating area. The exact length of streamers you'll need will depend upon the size of the room you are decorating, how deep you let the swag drape and how tight you twist the streamers. Although you could estimate how long you want each section of the swag to be and cut the streamers with scissors, some people find it easier to just work with both rolls of crepe paper together.
-
6
Tape the twisted streamers to the ceiling about one-third down the room. Let the streamers drape about 18 inches down from the top of the ceiling. Don't tug too hard on the streamers or you might pull the tape off the wall and have to re-twist and secure the tape to the wall.
-
7
Continue unrolling and twisting the streamers until you have enough length to drape over the next section of the room. Tape the next section of streamers to the top of the ceiling as you did before.
-
8
Decorate the entire room with the twisted swag streamers. Cut the streamers with a pair of scissors when you reach your starting point or the end of your decorating area.
-
9
Cover the unsightly tape keeping the streamers on the wall with blown-up balloons in a coordinating color. Tape the balloons to the wall or ceiling with more tape.
Crepe Paper Flowers
-
10
Cut a piece of streamer 18 inches long. Fold the streamer in half lengthwise several times until it is about 2 inches wide.
-
11
Pinch the streamer at the bottom with one hand. Cut the top of the streamer to make a rounded edge.
-
12
Unfold the streamer and then refold into another 2-inch wide piece, so that the rounded tops you just cut are staggered. Pinch the streamer at the bottom and cut the top again in a rounded edge. This will make highly staggered scalloped edges.
-
13
Fold the crepe paper in half lengthwise and secure the floral wire around the bottom left corner crepe paper, by folding the wire around the corner. The wire will form the stem of the crepe paper flower.
-
14
Wrap the crepe paper around the wire and secure it with the floral tape. Wrap the paper slightly down the stem so that the paper looks more like a flower. Adjust the paper with your fingers to spread out the paper petals; gently stretch the petals to make a more realistic look. Secure the final edges of the crepe paper with the floral tape. Glue the microbeads to the center of the completed flower to make the flower look more realistic.

Tips & Warnings
Create several flowers in varying crepe paper colors to look like a bouquet of flowers, or snip the end of the floral wire and slip it into a boutonniere hole or pin to the shoulder of the mother-to-be as a corsage.
