How to Make Towels Smell Fresh

Keep towels smelling fresh with vinegar.

No one wants to use a dirty, smelly towel. This makes it important to use a wash routine that not only removes residue from the towels, but also any odor that may be present. Smells can develop from nearly anything, especially as the towels get older and used more. Leaving the towels in the hamper for extended periods can also cause odor, so wash regularly and hang to dry before throwing in the hamper to make towels smell fresh.

Things You'll Need

• Washing machine
• Laundry detergent
• White vinegar
• Baking soda

Instructions

1. Toss your towels into the washing machine, using a large load size and hot water wash setting.

2. Pour in a cap full of your normal laundry detergent.

3. Add 1 cup white vinegar along with 1 cup baking soda. Both elements deodorize well, while the baking soda assists in cleaning and the vinegar disinfects.

4. Run the wash cycle as you normally would, and dry in your dryer. Make sure the towels dry fully as excess moisture can lead to a musty smell.
