How to Get the App Store on My iPod Touch 1.0

For the first year after its release, there was no App Store for the iPod Touch, first generation. The App Store was released in 2008 as part of the new iPhone and iPod Touch software (iOS 2.0), and on iTunes version 7.7. While the software update was free for iPhone users, there is a $10 upgrade cost for the iPod Touch, first generation. The App Store is available on subsequent versions of the software, for the same $10 fee. In 2011, the most recent upgrade for iPod Touch users is iOS 3.1.
