Spray glass cleaner on the side of the windshield that has the scratch on it. Wipe the glass clean with a soft, lintless cloth. Dry the glass with a dry cloth.

2
Apply buffing compound filler to the edge of a cloth. Place the edge of the cloth against the windshield, to one side of the scratch. Press down gently on the edge as you drag the cloth across the scratch. Lift the edge off the glass when you reach the other side of the scratch.

Place a medium-grade buffing pad on the front of the buffing power tool. Lock the pad onto the front of the tool. Plug the buffing power tool's cord into a wall outlet for power.

4
Press the trigger of the buffing power tool. Hold the trigger in as you press the pad against the glass, over the scratch. Buff back and forth along the length of the scratch as you make slow circling motions. Lift the pad off the glass after a minute has passed.

5
Inspect the glass to see if the scratch is no longer visible; if the scratch is still visible, apply the filler again and buff it again for the same amount of time. Stop doing this when the scratch is no longer visible. Release the buffing power tool's trigger. Unlock the buffing pad from the front of the tool and remove it. Unplug the tool's cord from the outlet.
