DIY Bouquet With Tulips
Whether creating a bouquet to hold during your wedding ceremony or celebrating the season of Spring with a table arrangement, tulips can help achieve your vision. Tulips are available in a wide range of colors to match any existing decor or wedding scheme. Create a round bouquet of tulips that gently arch toward the outer circle for a naturally spherical shape.
Things You'll Need
- 2 cups 7-Up
- 2 cups water
- 1 tsp. bleach
- Bucket
- Scissors
- 35-50 Tulips
- Craft wire
- Floral tape
- Ribbon
- Hot glue gun
- Glue sticks
- Decorative straight pins (optional)

Trim each tulip stem under a stream of cold running water to a remaining 7-inch stem with a pair of sharp scissors or gardening shears. Mix 2 cups of 7-Up brand soda, 2 cups of cold water and 1 tsp. of regular bleach in a bucket and soak the tulip stems in the solution to preserve their quality.

Gather the tulip stems, one at a time into your hand, arranging the buds according to your preferences. If adding other flowers to the bouquet, vary the buds as to not have too many of the same flower type bunched together.

Wrap craft wire tightly around the stems beginning approximately 2 inches from the bud while holding the formed bouquet in your other hand. Stop wrapping the wire around 2 inches before the end of the stems. Spiral the adhesive side of floral tape over the stems and wire.

Cut an 18 inch length of ribbon matching the wedding or tulip colors and wrap it around the floral tape and wire, covering all green surface area 2 inches from the tulip buds and the stem ends. Secure the ends with a dab of hot glue.

Press pearl end straight pins into the ends of the ribbon downward to avoid poking yourself.

Tips & Warnings
Other types of flowers, greenery and pieces of green ornamental grass may be added with the tulips in the bouquet.
Silk tulips can be used in place of fresh flowers for a permanent bouquet of to prepare weeks in advance for a wedding reception.
When creating the bouquet, it is best to keep it refrigerated for up to 24 hours before use. Flower preservation water (bleach solution) should be changed every 2 to 3 days for best results.
