How to Grow a Chrysanthemum Rainbow Mix
The chrysanthemum rainbow mix is also known as Painted Daisy, although its formal species name is Chrysanthemum carinatum. These flowers come in a variety of colors, and when the seeds sprout they create a rainbow effect. The chrysanthemum rainbow mixes do not look like the more common chrysanthemums available in the fall months. Instead, they have long, tall stalks with large flower heads. Plant them in early spring for colorful blooms all summer long. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wait until there is no further chance of frost in your region and the outdoor temperatures rise to at least 68 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. Locate an outdoor planting location that receives full sunlight exposure and has fertile soil.
-
2
Rake the area thoroughly with a wide-toothed bow rake to loosen the soil to a 1-inch depth.
-
-
3
Spread the chrysanthemum rainbow mix seeds onto the surface of the soil, spacing them at least 18 inches apart.
-
4
Sprinkle additional top-soil on top of the planting area until the chrysanthemum seeds are covered in a 1/16- to 1/8-inch layer of soil.
-
5
Screw a sprayer attachment onto the end of a garden hose and turn it to the lightest mist possible. Water the soil where the seeds are planted until it is thoroughly saturated to a 1-inch depth. Water daily until the seeds germinate, which occurs in two to three weeks.

Wait until the chrysanthemums germinate, and then water only once or twice per week to keep the soil moderately moist throughout the growing season.
