How to Put Up Office Cubicles

How to Put Up Office Cubicles thumbnail
Many office cubicles come in pre-made kits to ease installation.

Offices are notorious for their infamous cubicles -- the tiny sections to which each employee is assigned. But those cubicles must be put up and installed before anyone can use them. With the wide variety of cubicle designs available today, you can use a little imagination in the office design. Many cubicles are assembled in the same manner, so you can easily complete this project in a day or two, depending upon how many you need.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure that the bottom post risers are properly positioned at the bottom of the upright posts. These stop the panels from reaching all the way to the floor.

    • 2

Slide each panel into the upright posts, working with one section at a time. Push the panels downward from the top of the post until they rest on the bottom risers.

    • 3

Slide the aluminum bar across the top of the panel in a parallel motion, to install the finish filer on top of the panels. This is to keep the panels from being easily removed.

    • 4

Add the change of height filers to each post. This small piece slides down into the upright post, perpendicular to the panels. It will allow the panels to be raised or lowered slightly, but not removed.

    • 5

Measure 28 inches up from the floor on the upright post. Insert the support bracket into the vertical track of the upright post and slide it down to the 28-inch mark. Tighten the screw of the support bracket to secure it.

    • 6

Connect each of the panels in the design of your choosing.

    • 7

Screw each metal top cap onto the upright posts with an electric screwdriver or drill to secure all the pieces inside the upright posts. Cover the screws with the decorative plastic caps.

    • 8

Install the workbenches along the support brackets that you set at 28 inches. Secure the workbench to the support bracket, screwing it from underneath the workbench.

    • 9

Install the covers for the power panels, located below the standard panels. This way, cords and wires can run through them but they aren't visible. To install the cover, hook it onto the bottom of the power panel and push it forward, squeezing it gently at the top so it will fit snugly.
