How to Embed Google Docs Forms on a Web Page

How to Embed Google Docs Forms on a Web Page thumbnail
Google allows for collaboration and information collection through Google Docs Forms.

Google has an online document creation and editing tool called Google Docs that allows users to create spreadsheets, word processing documents and presentations. Documents can be shared with other users over the Internet, which allows for multiple, simultaneous editing. One way this feature is used is through the inclusion of Forms. Google Docs Forms offer ways that data can be entered by users and automatically formatted on a spreadsheet. Users don't even need access to the Google Doc to enter information in the Form. Embedding a Form in a Web page allows the collection of data seamlessly from the website to the linked Google Doc.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a new or existing spreadsheet in Google Docs. Click "Forms" > "Create Form." Click the "Add" button in the upper left to add form elements. Note that the question for each form element will create a column header in the spreadsheet. If you're using an existing spreadsheet, make the questions match your current column headings.

    • 2

Click the "More Actions" button at the top of the form-creation page. Click "Embed" then press "Ctrl" + "C" on your keyboard to copy the text. Click the "X" in the corner of the window.

    • 3

Open your website editing tools and find the point where you can enter hypertext markup language code to your site or blog. Press "Ctrl" + "V" on the keyboard to paste the embed code. Preview your site to see how the form looks. Adjust the location of the code in the HTML to change where the form appears. Consult with your web designer for more information on placing code in your Web page.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you already have a form created, you can get the embed code by clicking "Forms" > "Edit Form" > "More Actions" > "Embed."
