How to Boycott Animal Testing
Animal testing uses living animals to test the harmful effects of medical products or cosmetics in an attempt to make them safer for human use. The ethics of this practice are hotly debated by supporters and opponents. If you consider animal testing inhumane or cruel and wish to take a stand against it, there are several ways to boycott animal testing.

Obtain a list of companies and charities that use or support animal testing and a list of companies and charities that don't. A free pocket guide listing the top animal-friendly and animal-testing corporations is available through the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals website.

Abstain from purchasing from companies that support animal testing and choose more animal-friendly brands. Make a list of products you normally buy from companies that test on animals, and find cruelty-free alternatives from companies like Revlon, Almay and Pharmacopia. Withhold any donations normally given to charities that support animal testing; instead donate to animal-friendly charities and organizations.

Write letters to animal-testing organizations or companies you normally purchase products from informing them of your choice to take your money elsewhere. Explain that you cannot patronize a company that supports animal testing. If appropriate, offer to come back to the company if it bans animal testing in their product development.

Tips & Warnings
Because companies must sign a pledge with PETA to appear on their animal-friendly list, companies that do not use animal testing but refuse to sign may appear on the wrong list. If you are concerned about a favorite brand the best way to learn their stance on animal testing is to call the company or write a letter inquiring.
