How to Broil a Beef Top Sirloin Steak
A top sirloin steak is located behind the short loin. The top sirloin is more desired than the bottom sirloin because it is more tender. While you may prepare the steak using a variety of cooking techniques, broiling the steak in the oven with direct heat helps to keep the juices locked inside. Once you finish broiling the top sirloin steak, pair it with fresh vegetables or a salad for a simple meal. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Trim the excess fat from the top sirloin steaks. Slice the steaks into smaller portions if you desire. Cutting them into smaller portions makes it easier to flip them while they broil.
-
2
Season top sirloin steaks with pepper and salt. You do not have to season them at all, but salt and pepper add more flavor to the steaks.
-
-
3
Turn the broiler on high. Move the oven rack so that it sits 5 to 6 inches under the broiler. Allow the broiler to heat for 10 minutes.
-
4
Place the sirloin steaks onto the broiler rack. Flip the sirloin steaks with tongs when the bottom side appears brown. Keep an eye on the steaks while they broil to prevent overcooking them.
-
5
Insert a meat thermometer into the sirloin steaks. Remove the steaks when they reach your preferred doneness. A digital thermometer with a probe allows you to monitor the temperature easily so that you can remove them once they reach the appropriate temperature. The temperature will rise slightly once you remove the steaks from the oven.

6
Remove the top sirloin steaks from the oven. Allow the steaks to rest for five minutes on a wire rack and then serve immediately.
