Plant the philodendron in an area where it receives partial sunlight throughout the day. Direct sunlight causes the philodendron to wither and dry out.

Water the philodendron at least once a week. The top layer of soil should remain moist; the depth of moisture necessary depends on the size of the plant. Mature philodendrons need several inches of moist soil, while immature plants need only an inch or two to grow.

Prune the philodendron plant annually to remove dead stems, leaves and flowers. Prune in early spring while the philodendron is still dormant to prevent damage to new growth. Pruning encourages new spring growth and helps lower the chances of disease and pest damage.

Use standard potting soil in a planter deep enough to accommodate the roots of the philodendron if the plant is going to grow indoors. Fill the planter with potting soil and place the philodendron in the center before watering the soil. Make sure moisture drains from the bottom of the planter to prevent fungal problems.

I have a large phildendron in my bath room. not able to dust the leaves. but she is turning yellow in random groupings of her leaves. Alot are brown an withered. I love this plant. How can I save her from dyeing. She has grown to over 12 feet. Covers my whold bathroom.
