How to Release & Renew an IP on Windows Vista
The IP address of your Vista computer is a unique number that is assigned to your computer by the router or ISP that you connect to when you go online. The IP address is used to route your communications back and forth over the Internet. If your connection isn't behaving correctly, releasing and then renewing your IP address can help solve the issue.
