The olive branch is a symbol of peace, victory and nobility.

Throughout history, the olive branch has been used as a symbol of peace. During the original Olympic games, olive oil was used to keep the Olympic flame burning. The game's winners would have olive leaf crowns placed on their heads as a sign of glory, victory and peace. You can make olive leaf crowns out of paper to add authenticity to your children's Olympic games.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a strip 1 1/2 inches wide from the length of the construction paper.

    • 2

Wrap the strip around the wearer's head to find the right length.

    • 3

Cut the strip 1 inch longer than the head measurement.

    • 4

Cut out olive leaf shapes from the construction paper. Olive leaves are oval in shape with slightly pointed tips, like a football.

    • 5

Glue leaves all the way down the strip of paper, leaving 1 inch empty on each side. Put glue on one tip of a leaf and press that tip to the strip. Point the other end of the leaf upward to keep it out of the wearer's field of vision.

    • 6

      Allow the glue to dry.

    • 7

Tape together the ends of the strip to create a crown shape.
