How to Install Quartz Kitchen Countertops

Quartz stone countertops are a manmade material made from crushed quarts and resin. They are a great alternative to the costs of stone countertops.   • Pipe wrench
  • Rag
  • Putty knife

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off the water supply to the sink, disconnect the water lines with a pair of channel lock pliers. Loosen the compression nut on the trap with a pipe wrench.

      Remove the retaining bolts that secure the sink to the underside of the countertop. If the sink is glued onto the countertop, wedge a putty knife between the sink and counter to pry it loose.

      Pull the sink off the counter and plug the hole in the trap with a rag.

      Locate the retaining bolts under the countertop and remove them with a screwdriver. If the countertop is glued onto the cabinets, wedge a putty knife between the two to pry them apart.

      Lift up the old cabinets and place them off to the side. Scrape all of the old glue and sealer off the top of the cabinets if necessary.

      Place a bead of silicone sealer on top of the countertop to seal the countertop in place.

      Place the quartz countertop on to the cabinets.

      Place the L-shaped brackets over the threaded brass inserts under the countertop and secure the brackets to the countertop with the supplied screws.

      Secure the other side of the L-shaped brackets to the cabinets with the supplied screws.

      Place a silicone bead around the sink and secure it to the countertop. Make sure you remove the rag from the trap before placing the sink back onto the counter.

      Tighten the trap compression nut with the pipe wrench and reconnect the water lines with the channel lock pliers.
