How to Decorate Windows With Spray Snow

How to Decorate Windows With Spray Snow thumbnail
Snow spray can be used on windows and mirrors to add a holiday winter look.

Spray snow is artificial snow in a can used for decorating with a wintry theme in mind. Unlike sheets of artificial snow or snow-making machines used to cover large areas with fake snow, spray snow adds accents to windows, fake trees and other decorations to give the appearance of snow. You can create designs on the windows with spray snow or simply create fake drifts of snow near the sills of the windows to give a winter's day effect. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any items on the window such as decals or suction cups holding decorations. Spray some window cleaner on the window and promptly wipe the window clean with paper towels or a cloth. Repeat for all windows that you want to decorate with snow spray.

    • 2

Uncap the snow spray can and position the can so that the nozzle opening is facing the window. Hold the can near the bottom section of the window angled slightly downward.

    • 3

Depress the nozzle with your finger and allow the spray snow to accumulate a small amount on the lower section of the window to create the effect of a small snow drift. Move the can around slowly to give it a natural, uneven look.

    • 4

Take stencils and use a piece of clear tape to hold them to the window where you want the snow shapes to be. Hold the snow spray can a few inches from the stencil, depress the nozzle and spray evenly over the entire stencil. Repeat for additional stencils.

    • 5

Remove the stencils leaving behind the snow spray in the shape of the stencils.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also make your own stencils by using paper and scissors to cut out snowflakes, snowmen and other winter-related shapes and objects.

  • Spray on the inside or outside of the windows although the inside may allow the snow spray to last longer.

  • Snow spray may contain toxic chemicals. Use care when spraying. Be sure to spray in a well-ventilated area and keep the spray away from skin, eyes, and your nose and mouth.

  • Be sure children and pets do not touch or consume the spray snow.
