How to Mix Guava Butter
Guava fruit, commonly found in tropical areas and similar to the pomegranate fruit, has a fleshy pink inside that is sweet and flavorful. The flesh is often eaten plain, or mashed and added to desserts. Guava fruit is also sometimes used to create a flavorful guava butter spread. Creating guava butter is a simple process that requires boiling and mixing the guava with sugar and lime. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Guavas (any amount)
- Sharp knife
- Large pot
- Fine-mesh sieve
- 1 tsp. lime juice, or to taste
- Sugar, amount equal to guava pulp

Wash the guavas and slice in half. Remove the seeds with a teaspoon. Slice the guava into 10-inch thick slices.

Place the guava slices into a large pot and add just enough water to cover the guavas. Place on the stove over medium high heat and cook until very tender.

Strain the guavas from the water. Place in a sieve and mash the guava pieces, removing excess water and leaving only pulp.

Measure the amount of guava pulp you have and pour into a bowl. Add an equal amount of sugar to the mashed guava.

Add one teaspoon of lime juice to the guava mixture, or more to taste.

Pour the mixture into a pot, and bring to a boil. Let it cook for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens.

Allow mixture to cool. Pour into jelly jars or use immediately.

Pour guava butter over your French toast instead of syrup, or use as a spread on regular toast.
