Cake Base
-
1
Take the cake rounds out of their pans. One will be the the monkey's head, while the other will be used to cut ears and a face. Cut the ears/face cake though the middle to leave you with two circular pieces half as thick as the head.
-
2
Cut the upper half of the divided cake round in to the 3D face area. This should be in the shape of a football, but with more rounded ends and one of the long sides of the football should rise up into a semi circle; this is where the eyes will be.

3
Make two equally sized ears with the lower half of the divided cake round, with each ear curved to fit onto the sides of the head.
-
4
Make the banana butter cream by mixing together a cup of the butter, half a cup of mashed banana, the lemon juice and half a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Slowly beat in 3 cups of confectioners' sugar, adding more as necessary, to make a thick spreadable paste.
-
5
Spread the banana butter cream so that it is used like glue to attach the face and ears to the head. Reserve a tablespoon to use later for the eyes.
Decorations
-
6
Mix 2 cups of butter and 2 cups of confectioner's sugar until a light mixture is produced.
-
7
Melt half a cup of plain chocolate by boiling a half full pot of water and setting a glass bowl on top of the pot. Turn the heat down to keep the water boiling gently and place the chocolate in the bowl until it is completely melted.
-
8
Add half a teaspoon of vanilla extract and the melted chocolate to the butter and sugar mixture. Using the spatula, stir in milk as needed to reach a stiff spreadable consistency.
-
9
Spread the chocolate butter cream over the cake to produce an even surface and shake chocolate sprinkles over the head and ears, but not the raised face area, to give the appearance of hair.
-
10
Make two round eyes with the tablespoon of banana butter cream and place a peanut butter candy disk in the middle of each. Use an upside down chocolate peanut butter cup to make the nose. Use melted chocolate or peanut butter candy disks to make a smiling mouth.
