How to Set Parental Controls on Internet Explorer 7
If you have a computer in a home with children, consider activating the parental controls in your Internet Explorer 7 browser. This version of Internet Explorer has a "Content Advisor" that allows you to block specific websites and specify what kinds of content are not allowed to load in the browser window. Understand how to access the Content Advisor controls to activate your preferred settings and keep young eyes away from harmful pages.

Launch your Internet Explorer 7 browser. Click the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options" from the drop-down list.

Click the "Content" tab at the top of the "Internet Options" dialog window that appears. Click the "Enable" button underneath the "Content Advisor" section. If you currently have an Internet Explorer password, enter it when prompted to access this area.

Click the "Settings" button that displays, then click the "Ratings" tab. Click an option in the list, such as "Violence," then click and drag the slider to a level that determine the types of websites allowed to load in your browser.

Click the "Approved Sites" tab and enter the website addresses of any pages that your children may access. Click the "Always" button to approve this site. Alternately, enter URL addresses and click the "Never" tab to ban them.

Click the "General" tab and the "Users can see websites that have no rating" box to activate this setting, if preferred.

Click the "Create password" button to set a "Supervisor password" that gives you the ability to manage the content advisor settings. Bypass this step if you already have a password set.

Click the "Apply" and "OK" buttons to finish setting your parental controls. Restart Internet Explorer 7 to ensure your changes take effect.
