How to Get Rid of the Search History in Dogpile

When you use the Dogpile toolbar or bring up this metasearch engine in your browser window, the keywords you enter to access information and the URL addresses you visit are recorded to make it easier for you to return to previous pages. If you find this intrusive, you have the option to prevent it from happening. Access the Dogpile toolbar or your preferred browser to get rid of the current search history and prevent Dogpile from storing future records.

      Start the Web browser with the Dogpile toolbar.

      Click the "Dogpile" button next to the paw icon and then select the "Clear Search History" option. This task removes all of the search terms entered in the toolbar.

      Select the "Layout Manager" from the "Dogpile" drop-down menu and then click the "Settings" button.

      Remove the check from the "Enable search history" option to prevent Dogpile from recording future searches.

      Quit your browser and then launch it again to allow the changes to take effect.

    Browser

      Launch the browser with which you perform Dogpile searches.

      Click the Safari browser "History" menu and then select "Clear Recent History." Using Firefox, click the "Tools" menu and then click "Clear History." With Internet Explorer, click the "Safety" menu and then choose the "Delete Browsing History" title in the drop-down list. These actions allow you to get rid of the Dogpile history.

      Restart your browser.

Tips & Warnings

  • Prevent the Dogpile website from tracking your search history. Bring up the Dogpile website and then click the "Preferences" link on the left side (see Resources). Click the "Recent Searches Off" button to enable this setting.
