How to Find Someone With Their Previous Address

Sometimes when people move to a new home they don't leave a forwarding address. As a result, friends, family and co-workers lose contact with them. Finding someone isn't always a difficult task, especially if you have Internet access. There are numerous online resources that help you reconnect with that person. Even if you don't use the Internet, you still have other options at your disposal. Whether you want to do the leg work or want someone else to do it, finding someone with an old address may be easier than you think.

Instructions

    • 1

Mail a letter to the old address. Write "Address Service Requested" on the front of the envelope. If the U.S. Postal Service has a forwarding address, the letter will be forwarded.

    • 2

Speak with the person's neighbors at the old address. Use an online search database such as Skip Ease. Use the reverse address look up feature. Enter the address without the house number. You'll receive a list of addresses on that street along with phone numbers. Former neighbors may provide information such as the person's address, city, state or workplace.

Use a professional address trace service. These are fee-based services. Consider this option if the person has moved within the past 10 years. The service searches all 50 states. For a fee, you will receive report that includes the person's current address.
