Flash drives are convenient for transporting data, but they have a finite amount of storage. If you need to copy significant amounts of data to the flash drive, you may discover you have insufficient space. To help plan ahead, you can use Windows Explorer to analyze the flash drive and tell you its overall capacity, the amount of space currently used by files and the amount of available space.
Plug the USB flash drive into an available USB port on your computer.
Click "Open folder to view files" to open Windows Explorer. Or, you can click the "Start" orb, and select "Computer."
Right-click your USB flash drive's drive letter from the left-hand panel, and select "Properties."
Click the "General" tab and look at the volume statistics. "Used space," "Free space" and "Capacity" are displayed.
