How to Tie Pashminas Around the Neck

A scarf is an excellent way to add a splash of color to an outfit. There are so many varieties of scarves available that the smart shopper can find multiple options to match her tastes. Printed and embellished scarves can be tied together with jewelry or they can be allowed to stand on their own. Most scarves can be tied in multiple ways, depending on their length and overall shape. One of the most common scarves is the pashmina scarf. This type of scarf is made from the wool of the pashmina goat and is extremely warm and soft.

Instructions

Basic Tie

1. Fold your scarf in half width-wise.

2. Grasp one folded end of the scarf in each hand.

3. Wrap the scarf around your neck and pull the loose ends through the loop created by the folded scarf. This is a basic tie.

Modified Basic Tie

1. Fold your scarf in half width-wise.

2. Grasp one folded end of the scarf in each hand.

3. Twist the scarf until its taut. Wrap the scarf around your neck and tuck the loose ends through the loop created by the folded scarf. This will create a pleasant twisted look with the pashmina.

Twined Style

1. Lay two pashmina scarves next to each other.

2. Fold each pashmina in half length-wise.

3. Twine the two scarves together and wrap loosely around your neck. Flip one end of the twined scarves over your shoulder and allow it to hang against your back.

Shawl Style

1. Lay your pashima scarf out flat.

2. Fold the pashmina in half length-wise.

3. Drape the pashmina around your shoulders as a shawl. You can flip one end over your shoulder to help hold it in place.

Parisian Knot

1. Lay your pashmina scarf down flat.

2. Fold the pashmina in half length-wise.

3. Wrap the pashmina around your neck by holding the scarf against the front of your neck and looping the ends around the back of your neck (criss-crossing) and pulling them to the front. Tie the loose ends in a knot close to, but not next to your neck and allow the ends to hang in front of you.

Tips & Warnings

• Wear simple, understated jewelry with a bold scarf.

• Don't treat your scarf as you would your jacket and gloves. Instead of removing it when you remove your coat, leave it on and wear it alone with your outfit.
