How Do I Change or Edit a Facebook Name?

When you register for a Facebook account, you are asked to provide your name and other information. The name you provide helps other users search for you and is displayed when users view your profile. You can also choose a username that is used to create a personal URL for your profile. If you wish to change your name or username, you can do so from your profile page.

Instructions

Change Your Name

1. Go to the Facebook homepage and sign in to your account.

2. Click the "Settings" menu on the Facebook page and then click "Account Settings."

3. Click the "Settings" tab on the Account Settings page.

4. Click "Change" in the "Name" section of the page.

5. Input your name as you would like it to appear and click "Save Changes."

Change Your Username

1. Go to the Facebook homepage and sign in to your account.

2. Click the "Settings" menu on the Facebook page and then click "Account Settings."

3. Click the "Settings" tab on the Account Settings page.

4. Click "Change" in the "Username" section of the page.

5. Type a new username and click "Check Availability." If the username is already taken, you must choose another username.

Tips & Warnings

• Consider your username carefully before making the change. Facebook allows you to change your username only one time.
