How Can I Organize My Pots & Pans?
Cooking dinner becomes less of a chore when you can easily access pots and pans to prepare the meal in. Depending on how much space you have in your kitchen, you may find that the best way to organize pots and pans is to separate the pans from their lids and store them separately, but still near each other. Keeping your pans near the stove will also prove useful when you're cooking a meal. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Take out all your pots and pans and sort through them. You may have some pots that you don't use anymore or that are missing lids or are otherwise damaged. Discard any damaged pots or pans and donate ones you no longer use or need.
-
2
Sort the pots and pans by type. Place skillets and sauté pans in one pile and sauce pans in another. Separate stock pots and Dutch ovens into their own pile.
-
-
3
Separate lids from the pans if that works better for you. Store the lids on a lid rack that mounts to the door of a cabinet.
-
4
Store the pots and pans by how often you use them. If you only use a large stockpot during the holidays or a few times a year, stash it in a cabinet that is out of the way or store it in the back of a cupboard. Place the pots and pans you use daily as close to the stove as possible. You want to be able to grab them quickly without sifting through a pile of other pans.
-
5
Save space in a cabinet by nesting your pots and pans. Place smaller pans inside larger ones. Protect the inside of the pans by placing a rubber liner in them. Nesting works best for pans you don't use daily. You may get frustrated if you have to dig out a pot every time you need it.
-
6
Hang a pegboard on the wall or a pot rack from the ceiling to store pots you use regularly if you lack cabinet space. You'll be able to reach the pots and pans without a struggle.
-
7
Keep pots that see a lot of use and are very heavy, such as a cast iron skillet or Dutch oven, in a low cabinet. You don't want to risk hitting yourself in the head when you reach for the pan, nor do you want to strain yourself putting the pan away.
