How to Delete the Browsing History With Windows Vista & Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox is a popular Web browser compatible with a variety of operating systems, including Windows Vista. Firefox stores a 90-day browsing history of websites you've visited while using the program. You can't delete the Firefox history using the "Internet Options" dialog box in the Control Panel the same way you can Internet Explorer; you have to delete the Firefox browsing history within the browser itself.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Start," "All Programs," "Mozilla Firefox" and "Mozilla Firefox" again to open the Web browser.

    • 2

Click the "Tools" menu at the top of the Mozilla Firefox window and click "Clear Recent History."

    • 3

Click the "Time Range to Clear" box and select "Everything."

    • 4

Click the arrow button to the left of "Details" to open a drop-down menu.

    • 5

Verify the "Browsing & Download History" check box is checked; click to check the box if it isn't.

    • 6

Click to check boxes to the left of any other file types you want to delete.

    • 7

Click "Clear Now." The browsing history will be cleared.

Tips & Warnings

  • Firefox contains a private browsing feature. While Firefox is in private browsing mode, the Web browser won't remember any information about websites you visit. Open private browsing mode by clicking "Tools" and "Start Private Browsing" at the top of the Firefox window.

  • Configure how long Firefox remembers your browsing history or disable the browsing history feature entirely from the "Privacy" panel in Firefox's "Options" dialog box. Access it by clicking "Tools," "Options" and then clicking the "Privacy" icon at the top of the "Option" dialog box.
