How to Disassociate File Extensions
Windows 7 makes it easy to associate a file extension with a program, but removing this association is not at all obvious. Windows 7 does not include a graphical solution, meaning you cannot locate the file extension in the "Set Associations" interface and choose to delete it. However, Windows 7 does recognize textual commands that can disassociate specific file extensions. To use these commands, you need to enter them using the Command Prompt.
