Your dog will enjoy home-cooked food made from his raw food diet ingredients.

An alternative to feeding your dog a raw diet is to cook the raw dog food. It's debated as to whether or not a raw food diet is necessarily safe and healthful for your pets, so learning how to cook it could help prevent later problems. Cooking raw dog food isn't difficult, and the process still provides needed nutrients while optimizing canine health.

  • 1 cup diced beef liver

Instructions

    • 1

Combine the stew meat, rice, broth and liver in a large cooking pot. Add one cup of water, and cover the pot.

    • 2

Simmer the contents of the pot for two hours on a medium setting on your stove range. Keep the pot covered.

    • 3

Remove the lid, and add the peas and carrots to the mix.

    • 4

Simmer the contents of the pot for an additional 30 minutes. Turn off the stove, and allow the food to cool to room temperature while covered. This may take a few hours. The end result is a protein-rich dog food made from ingredients introduced to a raw dog food diet, plus the carbs found in unrefined grain such as rice. This food can either be given alone or mixed with servings of dry dog food to contribute to your dog's nutrition and health.
