How do I Burn a .pdf Document to CD? thumbnail
You can burn a CD directly from Windows Explorer.

Perhaps you downloaded a large portable document format file from the Web or want to distribute a report that you created. Either way, you can burn a PDF to a CD. You can even burn one PDF to a CD and add other files to the same CD later. A PDF document is simply a data file that carries the ".pdf" file extension after the file name, and Windows 7 offers you two ways to burn a data file to a CD.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a blank CD into your CD or DVD drive. The AutoPlay menu that opens has options for a blank CD.

    • 2

Select "Burn files to disc using Windows Explorer."

    • 3

Respond to a prompt asking you how you want to use this disc. Select one of two options: "Like a USB flash drive" or "With a CD/DVD player." Select the universal serial bus option if you inserted a CD-RW and plan to edit or delete the file later. Select the CD/DVD player option if you inserted a CD-R or if you don't plan to edit the file later. Enter a title for your disc, if you want, or leave the default suggested title.

Click "Next." The window that opens shows an empty folder.

    • 5

Open your Documents library in a new window.

    • 6

Search for your PDF file in the default list or select the folder where your PDF resides.

    • 7

Click and drag the file with the ".pdf" extension from the Documents folder to the CD/DVD drive folder.

    • 8

Click "Burn disc" in the Windows Explorer menu.

Tips & Warnings

  • Once you burn files to a CD-R, you can always add more files but you cannot edit or delete the files.
