The Best Way to Hang a Wooden Wind Chime

Wooden wind chimes are hung to attract good energy, called chi.

Wind chimes were historically hung to scare birds away from crops and repel evil spirits. The soothing sound of wind chimes does appear to calm many people and invite good energy into a space. Feng Shui is the practice of energizing an area by the placement of objects. Wooden wind chimes can slow or lift the chi, which is circulating energy. With a sound that is pleasing to you, they can reduce stress and accentuate harmony.

Instructions

1. Hang wooden wind chimes from the crown knot, at the top of the assemblage. This will allow them to move freely.

2. Position the chimes so the wind catcher portion, at the bottom of the chimes, can catch any breezes. Be certain that the clapper can also move freely.

3. Place wind chimes in a big window or a dark corner. They are purported to move chi from corners.

4. Use wooden chimes in those areas of your home ruled by the wood or fire element. This is the farthest, center point of your room or space, starting at the entrance.

5. Hang wooden wind chimes outside under the stars. This is a traditional practice of Chinese sailors to bring prosperity and good luck. It is believed they concentrate and feed the fire element.

• Many types of hardware, including S hooks and screw hooks, can be used to fasten wooden wind chimes to the ceiling.

• Use rope to hang wooden chimes from tree branches.
